Muktinath, which rests at an incredible altitude of 3,750 meters near Thorong La Pass in Nepal's Mustang District, is also a revered pilgrimage site for Hindus and Buddhists. This sacred destination, known as Mukti Kshetra, also known as the Place of Salvation, holds immense spiritual significance as it is believed to remove devotees of their sins. The temple, with its distinct pagoda-style architecture, is dedicated to the almighty Hindu deity, Lord Vishnu, and draws thousands of devotees and tourists from across Nepal and more. Its calm surroundings and spiritual ambience make it the great highlight of the great Mustang side.
Reaching Muktinath typically takes a 5-7 hour hike through the state of Jomsom, a journey that can be challenging for those unaccustomed to long treks. However, finer options are available, with the Muktinath Helicopter Tour as a popular choice. This tour is also ideal for travelers looking for convenience and efficiency, allowing them to bypass the fine hike while enjoying breathtaking aerial visuals of the region. The tour ranges from $600 to $3,000, offering a rare blend of comfort and pleasing, inspiring landscapes, making it a worthwhile investment for several visitors.
The Muktinath Helicopter Tour is also renowned for the unparalleled bird's-eye sight of the Himalayan terrain. Lasting three hours, the journey offers travellers the opportunity to see the stunning beauty of the incredible Mustang landscape, snow-capped mountains, and sprawling valleys well from above. The ease of this tour, combined with the fine vistas, makes it one of Nepal's most sought-after helicopter feelings, leaving visitors with several memories they will treasure for a lifetime.
